Fishing Frenzy, the casual mobile RPG built on Ronin with over 10 million installs, has rolled out a major update ahead of its Season 2 finale. The patch introduces new high-risk gameplay through Diving, a mode where gold or $RON can be spent for a chance to win greater in-game rewards topping out at a 2,000 $RON payout.
The update also adds Rift Encounters, a limited-time feature that allows trading a current catch for a shot at exclusive Rift fish. Collecting all five rarities unlocks a themed legendary pet. A Final Battlepass has also gone live, offering a last opportunity to earn Horizon Points before the season ends.
Diving: High-Risk, High-Reward Play-to-Earn Mode
Diving is now the core high-stakes mechanic introduced in the update. Once unlocked, two entry methods are available:
- Regular Dive: Uses in-game gold
- Premium Dive: Uses $RON for higher-value rewards
Each dive presents a board of tiles containing hidden corals and whirlpools. Revealing a full coral formation leads to rewards, while whirlpools reduce lives. All dives start with two lives. When both are lost, the run ends with no rewards.
Dives can be exited early after one complete coral has been revealed, allowing collected rewards to be secured. Sushi and sashimi items increase the number of available moves. Premium dives offer the largest possible payouts, including up to 2,000 $RON, making Diving a major addition to Fishing Frenzy’s play-to-earn economy.
Rift Encounters: Exclusive Catch and Legendary Pet
Rift Encounters introduce random high-difficulty events triggered during regular fishing. When triggered, the option appears to either sacrifice the current fish to enter or skip the encounter.
Accepting the encounter leads to a more difficult fishing challenge. A successful catch rewards either the original fish or a Rift fish of the same or higher rarity. Gathering all five Rift fish rarities unlocks an exclusive themed pet. Encounters triggered with shiny fish guarantee activation and raise the chances of acquiring rare Rift fish.
Final Battlepass: Last Horizon Points of Season 2
The Final Battlepass is now available for 25 $RON and runs through the last two weeks of the season. Rewards include:
- Horizon Points
- Mythic Baits
- Chests
This is the final window to earn Horizon Points before the season resets.
AI Agents Expand Fishing Frenzy’s Play-to-Earn
Fishing Frenzy will soon integrate AI agents through its partnership with Treasure and the Ronin Network. This marks the first on-chain AI automation tool to launch on Ronin, and one of the more advanced implementations in crypto gaming to date.
Agents will autonomously perform game actions including:
- Fishing and Diving
- Consuming sushi for energy
- Using bait
- Claiming daily, quest, and seasonal rewards
Each agent is powered by the MAGIC token for compute. Agents are generated through allowlisted NFTs or preset soulbound personalities via the Treasure Agent system. This rollout deepens the game’s automation layer and reinforces Fishing Frenzy’s positioning in the play-to-earn space.
Season End and Next Steps
Fishing Frenzy’s New Horizons season is scheduled to end in two weeks. Diving, Rift Encounters, and the Final Battlepass are now live. AI agents are expected to go live shortly after the season concludes.
