Quick Take
- Season 6 starts January 22 with lower mana costs on spells like Pengu Dive and Pounce & Purr.
- Prize pool reaches 250,000 CHECK tokens if players hit one million total matches across modes.
- Arena mode drops entry to 1,000 M8 points, with rewards for wins, draws, and leaderboard spots.
After yesterday’s teaser, Anichess has announced the release of Season 6: News Horizons.
The season’s reward structure ties the 250,000 CHECK (~$19,000 at the time of writing) token pool to a community goal of one million matches, distributing 15 percent through Quick mode for those completing 70 games, 35 percent to the top 100 in Ranked mode, and 50 percent via Arena leaderboards. Arena now requires 1,000 M8 points to enter, with each match costing 1,000 points and offering 500 for wins plus 100 for draws or losses.
Building on Season 5’s Winter Clash, which wrapped up with festive themes and ranked battles, Season 6 extends the format while bolstering esports efforts through the Team Secret partnership. Matches also earn Abstract XP for progression, and the top 64 players across Seasons 5 through 7 will qualify for playoffs.
The Animoca Brands game, in partnership with Chess.com, framed these updates as a way to deepen CHECK utility in competitive play, potentially drawing more participants as the token integrates further into tournaments and prizes., enters its next phase.
