Quick Take

  • Tokyo Beast tops App Store charts with over 300K downloads on day one
  • In-app purchases surpass $1M in 24 hours, 15% committed to TGT buybacks
  • $1M Championship kicks off June 21 with $14.5K top prize and global livestream

Web3 mobile battler Tokyo Beast is off to a record-breaking start. Launched globally on June 9, the title surpassed 300,000 App Store downloads on day one, according to the developer. First-day in-app purchase revenue reportedly exceeded $1 million, placing the game among the strongest commercial launches for a blockchain-integrated title to date.

Developed by TOKYO BEAST FZCO and backed by Japan’s Play3 Ltd., the game blends real-time strategy battles with spectator betting and token-based upgrades. It runs on Immutable’s zkEVM infrastructure and uses TOKYO GAMES TOKEN (TGT) as its core in-game currency. TGT is now listed on exchanges including Bybit, Binance Alpha, KuCoin, Gate, and Bitget.

Fifteen percent of June’s game revenue will be used to repurchase TGT through the project’s Web3 operations hub, BASE. That initiative is designed to recycle player spending into long-term value for token holders while fueling in-game staking, prediction systems, and tournament entries.

Gameplay is split between two core modes. In BASE, players manage their BEAST units, breed new characters, and stake assets. In TRIALS, teams of BEASTs battle in real-time with a mix of auto-battler mechanics and manual intervention. A spectator layer allows players to place outcome-based bets using earned tokens or free prediction chips.

The game’s economy runs through TGT, a capped-supply token that fuels everything from gacha pulls and stamina refills to event entry and NFT upgrades. The token also underpins governance functions and ecosystem rewards.

On June 21, Tokyo Beast launched its largest competition to date: the $1M Gaming Championship. The top prize is valued around $14,500, with second place receiving approximately $5,200. Additional placements earn payouts scaling down to $700, all paid in TGT at a $0.046 reference rate. The event also adds $34,500 to TRIALS and BASE prize pools through the game’s HIT5 payout mechanic.

Bets on the tournament are placed using CHAMPIONSHIP CHIPs, which are distributed daily. During the championship week, players can collect up to 12 prediction chips to wager on matches, outcomes, or finalists. The full competition was streamed live on Twitch, with English-language commentary and leaderboard tracking.

The lead-up to launch included a closed beta for 200 players in April with $20,000 in rewards and a June early access campaign for 3,000 users offering a $160,000 prize pool across mission completions and social media challenges. Players who participated in both the June 14 and June 21 tournaments will receive an additional $700 in unclaimed TGT.

Set in a dystopian Tokyo in the year 2124, Tokyo Beast revolves around humanoid androids called BEASTs, originally designed for labor but now repurposed for underground combat. Players either control teams in XENO Karate tournaments or place bets as spectators. Weekly tournament broadcasts create an ongoing engagement loop beyond daily missions.

A full breakdown of how players earn TGT and connect their Immutable Passport wallet is available in this step-by-step guide.

Immutable co-founder Robbie Ferguson previously called Japan one of Web3 gaming’s highest-potential markets, citing high average spend and strong IP loyalty. The platform has partnered with Tokyo Beast to provide infrastructure, wallet tools, and account abstraction via its non-custodial Passport system.

Tokyo Beast is currently available on the App Store, Google Play, and PC via the official website.
