Now confirmed, the 77-Bit Beta is kicking off on March 19! The free-to-play, browser-based cyberpunk MMORPG has been in development for three years, built from scratch without relying on an existing game engine. Set in a dystopian world where humanity fights against AI invaders, it combines exploration, combat, and resource collection with an interactive storyline. The Beta will be available for a limited two-week run, ending on April 4.
How to Get Into the 77-Bit Beta
Access to the Beta depends on how deep someone is in the 77-Bit ecosystem. NFT holders are the first in, starting March 19. Holding one of the 77-Bit NFTs, known as Ronins, unlocks early entry along with a free Battle Pass, exclusive in-game items, and Boost multipliers. Right now, a Ronin NFT is priced at 0.329 ETH ($632.08).
For those without an NFT, the next option is the Battle Pass, which grants entry starting March 21. Battle Pass holders also get better quest rewards and a 3x higher Pixel-to-Byte conversion rate.
Finally, the last wave of players can jump in on March 25 by either qualifying as a Noob (by meeting secret in-game criteria) or by purchasing Bits, 77-Bit’s hard currency. There’s no manual sign-up process—if someone meets the requirements, they’re in automatically.
What’s Inside the Beta?
The 77-Bit Beta will give access to a portion of the world, which includes the Wilds, Dungeons, and Darknet. The Wilds are open-world zones packed with enemies to fight and loot to collect. Dungeons offer solo raid experiences with tough bosses, rare drops, and hidden areas. Darknet is a roguelike mode where risk and reward scale together, making it one of the fastest ways to level up and stack Bytes.
Progress in the Beta is tied to BitHub, a browser-based platform that connects multiple crypto-integrated games. Everything in BitHub revolves around Bytes and Boost, the key to earning rewards. Bytes are collected by playing 77-Bit, completing missions, logging in daily, passive mining, and inviting friends. Boost increases the amount of Bytes earned and can be improved by progressing through the Battle Pass or owning specific in-game assets. The more someone plays, the more they can amplify their earnings.
Competing for Iconic Status and Quantum Core NFTs
At the top of the 77-Bit Beta’s competitive ladder is Iconic status, reserved for the top 5,000 Byte earners. Reaching this rank isn’t just for bragging rights—it also guarantees access to the Quantum Core NFT, which comes into play after the Beta ends. The Quantum Core NFT serves as a gateway to two major in-game advantages: it allows the conversion of Bytes into an upcoming in-game currency and grants a free NFT Land at launch, which will play a role in resource mining and strategic gameplay.
Once the Beta ends, these 5,000 Quantum Core NFTs will be minted. If they don’t all get claimed by Iconic players, Noobs will have the next shot. Everyone else will be left out.
Does Progress in the Beta Carry Over?
Anything earned in the Beta won’t disappear completely. While Beta-exclusive items won’t transfer to the final game, Bytes collected during the event will be convertible into Bits when the game officially launches. This means anyone grinding now will have an advantage when the full version of 77-Bit drops.
The 77-Bit Beta runs from March 19 to April 4, offering 16 days of gameplay before shutting down. Those looking to jump in early and secure a spot in the game’s economy will have limited time to do so.
