Immutable has announced a strategic partnership with Dutch studio GAMEDIA, marking the latest expansion of its Web3 gaming platform. The deal will bring a new multiplayer action title to Immutable Play in 2025, though no official name has been confirmed. A teaser clip released alongside the news featured gameplay from Spider Tanks, the PvP brawler previously developed by GAMEDIA, setting off speculation that the game could be revived under Immutable’s banner.
Spider Tanks was first unveiled in 2021 through a collaboration between GAMEDIA and Gala Games. It was positioned as a Web3 esports title with NFT-based tank parts and a dedicated token economy. While the game gained early traction, the relationship between the two companies soured. By mid-2024, GAMEDIA accused Gala of pulling resources away from active development, and the dispute escalated when Gala attempted to claim ownership of the Spider Tanks IP. A California court dismissed Gala’s case in September 2024, leaving GAMEDIA in control of the property.
Since then, GAMEDIA has kept a low profile, dropping occasional hints of ongoing development. Late last year the studio publicly thanked Immutable for visiting its offices, which now appears to have been the start of formal collaboration. The new agreement gives GAMEDIA a platform and distribution channel, while Immutable adds another experienced studio to its growing roster of partners.
The partnership aligns with Immutable’s strategy of bridging traditional studios into Web3. The company has recently added Ubisoft, which is rebooting Might and Magic with Immutable Play tools, and Habbo Hotel, which returned in blockchain form as Habbo X. Immutable co-founder Robbie Ferguson has said the shift reflects growing trust among established developers as blockchain infrastructure matures.
For GAMEDIA, the deal represents a chance to re-establish itself in Web3 after its split with Gala. If Spider Tanks does return, it would mark one of the first major competitive titles to move from a stalled launch back into active development under a new framework. With Immutable providing infrastructure and distribution, the studio appears set to re-enter the multiplayer market it helped pioneer during the early days of blockchain gaming.
