Proof of Play has off its New Year’s Brawl event on the Abstract blockchain featuring Pirate Nation and drawing players into a gaming competition where high scores unlock cash prizes. Proof of Play built the game as a sea-faring arcade adventure, and now competitors chase leaderboard spots for shares of the $16,700 main pool.
Bonus rewards came from community donations, including tokens like $ABSTER and $RETSBA that represent characters from the Pudgy Penguins universe. The Abstract team created Abster as a green penguin mascot, while Retsba plays the role of main antagonist in that ecosystem. Winners snag portions of 101,000 $ABSTER tokens valued at around $524 or 1,514,721 $RETSBA tokens worth about $545, adding a meme coin twist to the competition.
NFT prizes elevate the stakes further, with items from various top-tier collections up for grabs. Two unrevealed Bearish NFTs currently hold a floor price of $287 each, appealing to collectors in the space. Twenty Gigaverse Gigling NFTs at $12.90 apiece bring pixelated charm, three OCH Genesis Heroes at $199 each offer hero assets, and four Fuyui NFTs valued at $156 each round out the haul for 29 lucky players.
