- Corners platform launches beta to reward content curation with $SAND.
The Sandbox posted a message on X on January 5, 2026, noting their partnership with Base and focusing on onboarding the masses. This follows the completion of $SAND integration on the Coinbase Layer-2 network in December 2025, which opened deposits and withdrawals through Binance. Users now bridge assets from Ethereum or Polygon to Base in under a minute using LayerZero technology at superbridge.app.
Liquidity for SAND pairs with wrapped ETH exists on Aerodrome, where veAERO holders direct emissions. The move aligns with Sandbox’s multi-chain approach, which began on Ethereum in 2020 and extended to Polygon for lower fees, then Binance Smart Chain in 2024. Base provides affordable transactions, supporting voxel creation, LAND NFT ownership, and play-to-earn mechanics in the metaverse.
Sandbox launched Corners on Base in invite-only beta on December 9, 2025. The platform lets users curate internet links into tradable collections, with holders voting on content. Fees from activity distribute SAND rewards to holders and referrers across up to five levels. Browsing requires no wallet, with transactions added later, and full public access planned for early 2026.
This addition emphasizes cultural engagement beyond gaming, fitting Base’s ecosystem that handles millions of daily transactions at low costs. Sandbox originated as a platform for building virtual worlds with voxels, attracting over 400 brands and creators. Partnerships include Adidas and Gucci for fashion experiences, Atari and Ubisoft for games, The Walking Dead and The Smurfs for entertainment zones, and Warner Music Group for music events. Snoop Dogg hosts concerts in his digital mansion since 2021.
SAND serves for transactions, staking, and governance in the ecosystem. As of January 2026, the token holds a market capitalization of around $340 million. Recent mobile updates from September 2025 integrate with Base for on-the-go access to metaverse features. The platform continues to prioritize creator tools and community involvement in Web3 gaming.
