Cambria has added a second on-chain resource to its Core system. Cosmetic Shards, known as pink shards, are now being generated alongside Companion Shards and expand the utility of Core NFTs through two new mechanics. The shards can be burned to claim a share of Arena Token spending on lootbox keys, or submitted in blind auctions for exclusive cosmetic items.
The new system builds on the existing Companion Shard framework introduced after the Core mint in December 2024. Since launch, Core holders have used Companion Shards to mint nearly 8,000 pets. These companions have been actively used in-game during Season 2 and traded across secondary markets, including a Wyvern that sold for 800 RON.
Both shard types are earned passively at the same base rate of one shard per Core per day, with yield bonuses applied to higher-tier NFTs. Companion and Cosmetic Shards are generated simultaneously through staking. That structure remains unchanged in the current version, though future updates may introduce adjustments.
Cosmetic Shards integrate directly with systems launching in Duel Arena version two. Arena Tokens, the in-game cosmetic currency, are spent to purchase lootbox keys. Half of that spend is allocated to a shared pool. Cosmetic Shards can be burned to claim a portion of this pool, calculated based on the number of shards burned relative to the total participation during that cycle. Wallet activity is visible, but the total amount of Arena Tokens in the pool is not displayed.
A second burn mechanic has been added through a new auction format. Cosmetic Shards can be used in biweekly blind auctions featuring limited-supply cosmetics. Multiple bids can be submitted from a single wallet. Winning bidders receive the item and pay the lowest successful bid. All bids, whether successful or not, result in burned shards. Public data includes the number of bids and participants, but no pricing or rank data is shown during the auction period.
In parallel with the new shard systems, Cambria has formalized its catalog of earlier cosmetic items. A total of 93 items from previous releases are now labeled as Legacy Cosmetics, categorized into four rarity tiers: LegacyCommon, LegacyUncommon, LegacyRare, and LegacyLegendary. Items such as Party Hats, Golden Whips, and Rubber Chickens are listed under the highest tier.
Arena Token version one is being discontinued. Wallets holding a minimum of 10,000 tokens will receive Cosmetic Shards at a fixed conversion rate of 1000 to 1. The ten largest token holders will also receive a Founder NFT. Arena Token balances will also be factored into eligibility for future cosmetic-related rewards.
The rollout also includes the first Core-tier gated cosmetic. The Genesis Wyvern was distributed via airdrop to holders of Tier 3 or higher Cores, based on a snapshot taken prior to the v1.1 update. A total of 302 wallets qualified for the drop. The Genesis Wyvern is soulbound and cannot be traded.
There is no confirmed date for Season 3. Cambria continues to expand its on-chain infrastructure through systems tied to Core NFT staking. Both Cosmetic and Companion Shards now serve as inputs for the creation of in-game assets, including pets and cosmetics. Distribution is managed through automated pricing, burn mechanics, and time-based auctions, linking item supply to real-time activity and staking participation.
